Extension Hacks: Bridal Edition with Laura Clark
At 28 years old, LAURA CLARK is anything but ordinary.
A former model/stylist now turned full fledged business owner, new mom, youtuber, and entrepreneur, Laura has seen her fair share of beauty trends. From bold brows to lined lips, she’s honed her eye and mastered all of the industries top trends. One trend she says wont ever fade is the trend of good hair, and we at the CANADIAN BRIDE GUIDE couldn’t agree more.

We sat down with Laura to chat about her latest business venture JUST BOUGHT IT HAIR and to pick her brain about some of this years top bridal trends.

CBG: Laura it’s so wonderful to have you, thanks so much for taking the time to chat with us.
Laura: Thanks so much for having me!
CBG: Okay, so let’s jump right into it. What the heck is Just Bought it Hair?!
Laura: Just Bought It Hair is a luxury hair extension website that offers simple solutions for women who are looking to add volume to their own hair. We offer clip in bangs and ponytails, clip in wefts, halos and tape in extensions.
CBG: That’s amazing! You’ve covering all the bases! I also notice you’ve got these adorable clutches on there!
Laura: Our hair clutch is the next best thing in hair storage- travel and style your extensions in these adorable printed clutches!
CBG: Sigh, absolutely - they’re our favourites! How the heck did you think to come up with all of this? How did it all come about?
Laura: I have always used hair extensions for personal use but after I became pregnant I found doing my hair a challenge. My hair started thinning and all of that beautiful hair that I had grown throughout my pregnancy fell out in clumps.
CBG: Oh no, that’s awful.
Laura: Right? I wanted to make women feel beautiful, especially being a new mom. I knew it had to be functional and quick and easy.
CBG: Absolutely! What are some ways you ensure all your solutions are just that: functional, quick and easy?
Laura: We feature the fastest and easiest hair extensions such as the halo and ponytail on our website for busy moms, but we also feature clip ins and tape ins for those wanting to ad volume!
CBG: That’s fantastic! So perfect for those days on-the-go, but also great for those nights (or maybe even wedding days) when you want a little more glam!
Laura: Exactly.
CBG: So what made you get into this?
Laura: When you look good you feel good! Your confidence spikes and you can accomplish way more in the day!
I always feel great when my hair is voluminous and styled. Especially on your wedding day, you want every detail perfect and your hair could arguably be just as important as the dress - ok we’re a little biased ;)
CBG: Ha, no but you’re totally right! It’s all a part of it, and truthfully when it comes to something as important as your wedding day every detail absolutely counts.
Laura: Completely.
CBG: We love that you’re taking a focus on new moms - why did you choose to take hair accessories from this angle?
Laura: When you are a new mom your last priority is your hair. The mom bun never fails, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that, but I wanted to have the best of both worlds. I wanted an easy solution to have my hair look great everyday without compromising my time with my son - or my morning coffee before starting our day! I found the ponytail and halo extension and it took me under 5 minutes to have my hair look great. I wanted to share this with all moms and busy women!
CBG: Oh gosh, under 5 minutes? That’s FANTASTIC! - a total time saver! Ok, we’ve got to ask - since you are a total extension guru, what are your absolute favourite hair styling hacks?
Laura: My favourite hair styling hack is adding highlights to your hair using extensions. You can go from having a solid colour to adding texture without the use of dyes in your own hair.
CBG: Gah, that’s BRILLIANT! Ok, what about tips for upcoming brides? Any suggestions on how to prep their hair for the big wedding day?
Laura: Having a consultation before your wedding day is crucial to getting everything perfect. You want to make sure the colour matches, you have enough extensions and the extension type matches with your hairstyle the day of. Bringing in reference photos of what you would like your hair to look like will help your hair dresser achieve the look.
CBG: Great idea! What are five of your favourite top wedding hair trends/styles for 2020?
Laura: Hollywood curls (classic) - Pin straight (long and parted in the middle) - half-up-half-down (with accessories), loose ponytail (with beach waves), and crown braids (with clip in extensions)!
