Love in the time of COVID: An Intimate Wedding Story
It’s not every day that you get to say you got to marry your best friend in the middle of a pandemic - But for Brittany and Brandon of Georgetown, that’s exactly what they did.
Childhood friends and post-high school sweethearts, the two spent an incredible decade together before deciding to tie the knot. With a proposal that took place at a beautiful alpine ski resort just northwest of Collingwood, Ontario, the couple decided on forever and began making international nuptual plans.
While the original wedding was planned for Mexico, the wedding party itself was actually scheduled to be at their home so that they could legally get married locally before they left. Lo-and-behold, COVID hit, and well, let’s just say plans changed rather quickly.
Lucky for them, the original officiant they had found to marry them was still up for the task, and the next chapter of their lives was able to begin.
With a celebration that turned out better than that which they had initially planned, the couple enjoyed a beautiful ceremony surrounded by close loved ones, virtual guests, and a whole lot of wedding day magic.
Of course every unconventional wedding comes with some unique challenges, like trying to coordinate everything while abiding by pandemic safety guidelines, but for Brittany and Brandon, it was just another challenge they were willing to tackle together.
Thankfully by the time their big day rolled around Ontario was already starting to enter Phase 2 of reopening, and so things like makeup and hair were allowed and immediate family members were actually able to attend. While it couldn’t have been easy, they had a wonderful and supportive team who helped keep them calm and allowed them to really and truly enjoy every moment of their beautiful intimate ceremony.
With only 10 people in attendance they could have never expected that the party would be as much fun as it was, but thanks to some great planning, beautiful traditions, meaningful moments, and a whole lot of love the evening was filled with everything and more.
Overall the couple loved their intimate COVID wedding and shared that if the love is right, it doesn’t matter if you have a big or small wedding - because what truly matters is that you get to marry the person who you want to spend the rest of your life with. Nothing, not even a global pandemic should stop you from that.
